Who we are

L Designs is a home staging, interior decorating and painting business based in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. We decide how the personal information described here is used, so we are responsible for it.

What we collect

When you fill in our quote form, we collect:

• who the enquiry is for: whether you're selling your home, living in it, or an estate agent
• your name and phone number
• your email address, if you give it
• your suburb or area
• the service you're interested in: home staging (selling a home), interior decorating, design consultation, interior painting, exterior painting or not sure yet
• any details you share about the home or the work
• how you'd like us to get back to you
• that you agreed to this notice

Each form submission is also stored with the IP address it was sent from, your browser details and the page you sent it from, and a copy is emailed to our business inbox.

When you contact us by WhatsApp, phone or email, we receive your name and number or email address, and anything you choose to send us, such as messages or photos of your home.

Like most websites, our website host may also record basic technical details when you visit, such as your IP address and browser type. This helps keep the site running and secure.

Giving us your details is your choice. To reply to a quote request we need your name, phone number, suburb or area, who the enquiry is for, the service you're interested in and your agreement to this notice. If you ask us to reply by email, we need your email address too. Telling us more about the home is optional, and you choose how we reply.

Why we use it

We use your information to:

• reply to your enquiry
• prepare a quote
• arrange a visit to the home
• carry out, and follow up on, work you ask us to do

We use it because you asked us to get in touch, and because it's needed to quote for or do the work. We won't use it for anything unrelated, and we won't send you marketing messages unless you ask us to.

Who we share it with

• Our website host. This website is hosted by Netlify, a company based in the United States, which receives and stores quote form submissions on our behalf, outside South Africa. Netlify screens every submission for spam using a filtering service called Akismet.
• WhatsApp. If you message us on WhatsApp, your messages go through WhatsApp, a service provided by Meta. WhatsApp's own privacy policy applies to how it handles them.
• Phone and email providers. Calls and emails pass through our phone and email providers in the normal way. Our business email, including the copy of each quote request, is a Gmail account provided by Google, which may store it outside South Africa.
• Estate agents. If you're selling through an estate agent, or an agent brings us in on your listing, we may share what's needed to plan the staging with them, such as dates and the quote.
• People helping with your project. If someone else helps with your job, such as a supplier delivering to your home, we may share what they need to do that part of the work, and nothing more.
• When the law requires it. We may share information if we are legally required to.

We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information.

How long we keep it

We keep your information only for as long as we need it for your enquiry or project, and for any longer period the law requires us to keep records, for example for tax. After that, we delete it.

How we protect it

We take reasonable steps to keep your information safe from loss, misuse and unauthorised access.

Your rights

You have the right to:

• ask what personal information we hold about you
• ask us to correct it if it's wrong or out of date
• ask us to delete it
• object to how we use it
• withdraw your consent at any time. This doesn't affect anything we did before you withdrew it.

To make any of these requests, email us at chappleliesl2@gmail.com. We may ask you to confirm who you are first, so we don't share your details with the wrong person.

If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, please tell us so we can try to put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Regulator (South Africa) at inforegulator.org.za.

We may update this notice from time to time. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
