Painting

House painting in Durban, inside and out

Interior and exterior painting for Durban homes, with the careful preparation our humid, salty coast calls for. Getting ready to sell, or ready for a change? We'll help you choose the colours too.

What we paint

Walls, ceilings and everything in between

Book us for a single feature wall or the whole house, inside or out.

  • Interior walls

Lounges, bedrooms, kitchens and passages, painted with clean edges and a smooth, even finish.

  • Exterior walls

Outside walls cleaned and prepared for salt air, sun and summer rain before any paint goes on.

  • Feature walls and colour

One bold wall, a painted arch or a colourful nook. We help you pick the shade, then paint it neatly.

  • Ceilings

Bright, fresh ceilings, including bathrooms and kitchens where steam and humidity take their toll.

  • Doors, trims and woodwork

Doors, frames, skirtings and window trims, sanded and painted for a crisp, finished edge.

  • Preparation and repairs

Cracks, nail holes and flaking patches filled and sanded smooth before painting. If a crack is likely to come back, we'll tell you.

Selling your home?

Painting before you sell

Fresh, light walls are a simple place to start when you get a home ready to list. Scuffs and tired colours disappear, and rooms feel brighter and cared for, in the listing photos and on show days.

  • Scuffed and marked walls freshened up
  • Cracks and nail holes filled and smoothed
  • Light, neutral colours that let buyers picture their own things
  • Booked on its own, or with home staging so the walls are done before the styling

Made for the coast

Built for Durban's climate

Durban is hard on paint. A finish only lasts as long as the surface under it, so preparation matters as much as the colour.

  • Humidity and mould

Bathrooms, kitchens and shady rooms stay damp for long stretches. Mould has to be treated, not painted over.

  • Salt air

Near the sea, a fine salty film settles on outside walls. Paint struggles to grip unless it is washed off first.

  • Strong sun

North- and west-facing walls bake all year. Chalky, faded paint needs to be cleaned back before recoating.

  • Summer storms

Afternoon downpours can spoil fresh exterior paint, so outside work is planned around the weather.

How we prepare surfaces

Most of a good paint job happens before the first coat.

  • Wash walls to remove dust, grease and salt
  • Scrape off loose and flaking paint
  • Fill cracks and holes
  • Sand surfaces smooth
  • Treat mould, and point out damp that needs fixing first
  • Prime bare or repaired areas where needed
  • Cover floors, furniture and fittings before we start

How it works

From dust sheets to final coat

A tidy, step-by-step job, so your home stays liveable while we work.

  1. Protect

We cover floors, wrap furniture and mask off switches, fittings and edges before a tin is opened.

  2. Prepare

Walls are cleaned, scraped, filled, sanded and primed where needed, so the paint has a sound surface.

  3. Paint

Your chosen colours go on with clean lines and an even finish. We work room by room where we can.

  4. Clean up and walk through

We remove the masking, tidy up and walk through the finished rooms with you to check every detail.

Questions

Painting questions

Can't see your question here? Send us a message and we'll help.

Ask on WhatsApp
Do you paint exteriors as well as interiors?

Yes. We paint both. Exterior work is planned around the weather, because Durban's summer rain and humidity affect when paint can go on and how well it dries.

Can you repaint before I sell?

Yes. Fresh, light walls are one of the simplest ways to get a home ready to list, and painting can be booked together with home staging.

My walls have damp or mould. Can you still paint them?

Often yes, but the cause has to be dealt with first or the problem comes straight back through new paint. We'll look at it when we visit and tell you honestly what it needs.

Who supplies the paint?

We'll talk this through in your quote. We can recommend products suited to each surface, or work with a range you already prefer.
